As a company that prides itself on the quality of up to date information in the CNS area, Best Practice has been concerned about the limited usefulness of traditional CME programs in bringing relevant disease management information to a broad group of busy practitioners. We have long been aware that information given in the traditional lecture format is not available to physicians and other health care providers when and where they need it – in their office when caring for an individual patient. We also have had deep concerns about the quality of information available to patients and their families, which is often disconnected from, or at variance with, the information received from physicians. Quality disease management of chronic illness starts with well-informed health professionals and actively engaged patients and families.
Through an exclusive alliance in the CNS area with MedRespond’s Custom Conversations, we have been able to secure the optimal technical platform to make up to date information available to physicians and other healthcare providers, and to patients and their families. Effective patient and family education does not end at the physician’s office. It requires on-going access to information, as well as other tools to encourage adherence with the requirements of effective disease management. The MedRespond technology combines artificial intelligence and streaming media, enabling a pharmaceutical company or a health care system to reach patients, family members, physicians and other health care providers, engaging them in conversations about medications and life style management issues; providing answers to more than 300 questions related to individual disorders in psychiatry and neurology (>300 questions/disorder). The Best Practice/MedRespond solution goes beyond the static sources of information by continually responding to new questions. When new issues arise, the question is referred to the content experts who provide an e-mail response within 24 hours, followed promptly by a new video clip. Best Practice brings the content experts!
The technology goes well beyond what has been available on the internet, through search engines or the traditional point and click options available at web sites. Developed by researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, the MedRespond technology is state of the art in its potential to educate, and to constantly improve available content as it learns from the questions that have been submitted by key stakeholders. The CNS application of MedRespond’s Custom Conversations is available for demonstration. We welcome your interest.
